Main Jet Motor Sports opened their new location in 2011. We were contracted to design and construct a large steel top front service counter with a glass display area, industrial looking steel counters, and multiple mountain inspired railings for the showroom and stairs.
For this project we utilized SketchUp 3D modeling software to recreate Main Jet Motor Sports’ physical space in a digital realm. We drew a 3D 30-foot long curved steel counter with four pieces of curved glass incorporated into the front wall. Using SketchUp was extremely helpful, it was able to provided us with the curve radius for the glass that was cut and curved to a very specific degree.
After receiving final approval of the design we prepared the order for the laser cut steel and precisely curved glass. We were fortunate to have all of these piece made nearby in Vancouver BC.
The Main Jet Motor Sports logo was built using steel and red plexiglass. We constructed it in a way that allowed us to backlight the plexiglass and illuminate the company brand.
Once we had all the components in the shop we were able to build the main support structure around them, similar to a giant steel puzzle. When we brought the digital creation back into the physical world, the pieces fit perfectly.
